About the role

We are looking for a Compliance Specialist to provide support to the Head of Compliance Retail and Defined Benefit, with ongoing analysis of regulatory risk, including but not limited to financial crime, financial promotions, and regulatory breach oversight.

Working within the Group’s regulatory risk appetite defined by relevant Boards, the Compliance Specialist will work proactively with first line colleagues within Retail, DB, Investment, and Procurement teams and, when required, the wider Group to promote best practice with the aim of reducing regulatory risk.

You will also contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust Consumer Duty culture.

As part of a wider team, the Compliance Specialist will also provide support for the wider Compliance function.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive and timely regulatory oversight and challenge to new product or propositional developments and oversight of ongoing product governance. In doing so, ensuring the first line’s activities and governance undertaken adheres to Consumer Duty principles and outcomes and wider appropriate regulatory standards such as PROD rules.

  • Provide broad regulatory and compliance support and expertise to projects and/or regulatory change programmes. Delivering by business partnering with Retail and DB colleagues to ensure that these are delivered without increasing exposure to unacceptable regulatory risks. Assisting the business in achieving its objectives and to ensure compliance with current legislation and best practice

  • Provide consultancy support and technical expertise on key FCA regulatory areas of focus including but not limited to conduct, Consumer Duty and at retirement.

  • Ongoing collaboration with colleagues across other first and second line Group functions to facilitate appropriate and timely support to Retail, DB, and Investment business partners.

  • Provide support and guidance to the business by delivering detailed financial promotions compliance advice in relation to new and existing marketing/business initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Regulatory Compliance experience in a UK life and pension company is essential

  • Proven record of accomplishment in financial services compliance, preferably in the life insurance firm sector, providing regulatory consultancy and business development support.

  • Oversight of successfully implemented regulatory change

  • Oversight of product development, ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations.

  • Srong analytical skills

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels.

  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

  • Ability to negotiate internally and externally.

  • Good knowledge of FCA rules particularly in relation to product design, UK AML regulations and JMLSG guidelines, and Life and Pensions Insurance Products.

  • IT literate, including in the use of Microsoft Office software, in particular, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
