The Role

The DB Actuarial Analyst supports the DB Pricing Actuary and DB Actuary in accurate and timely delivery of new business quotations, populating and running pricing models to calculate premiums, manipulation of data, assumption setting and calculation of all associated pricing metrics.

The role directly supports delivery of the DB business plan in respect of pricing and actuarial input and will cover both BAU and ad hoc project requirements.

This position is offered on a 12 month day rate contract basis. Given current remote working practises we’re in a positions to offer this role nationally for the duration of the contract with occasional travel, as required, to our London or Reigate offices when appropriate.

You will

  • Support DB Pricing Actuary and DB Actuary in accurate and timely delivery of data true ups
  • Check drafts of internal sign off documentation produced by DB Actuarial Analysts for each quotation or true up, ensuring results are presented to DB Pricing Actuary in a clear manner, outlining all material areas of judgement and limitations.
  • Check initial drafts of quotation or true up documents to be issued externally.
  • For quotes that are outsourced, work with DB Actuarial Analyst and DB Actuary to transition scheme to outsourcer and produce final deliverables for the quotation.
  • Proactively drive projects forward to ensure they are progressed in line with expected timescales.
  • Carry out all necessary BAU work for in force business.
  • Check individual member calculations carried out by DB Actuarial Analysts, to ensure they are delivered in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop a deep knowledge of all systems and tools used in DB pricing.
  • Provide support in ad hoc tasks such as data analysis, proposition developments, systems testing and process improvements.


  • Are working towards FIA qualification and making good progress with the actuarial exams
  • Have experience of working within a pension consultancy or life insurance company
  • Poses sound knowledge of technical actuarial concepts, particularly principles underlying bulk annuity pricing
  • Have knowledge and awareness of the DB buy in/buy out market.
  • Are analytically strong with good interpersonal and team working skills
