Purpose

  • To support the activities relating to credit assessments and the ‘Credit Ratings Validation Framework’.

Job Role Accountabilities

  • Support the determination and embedding of internal credit rating methodologies for new asset classes

  • Support the review and analysis of new fund manager credit rating methodologies

  • Support the internal validation activities as set out in the Credit Rating Validation Framework

Example of Key Activities

  • Support the production of methodology document covering key aspects of new internal credit rating approach

  • Support the development of models for the new internal credit rating approach

  • Support the drafting of report covering outcome of analysis of new fund manage rating methodologies

  • Support the drafting of papers for new internal credit rating methodology or new fund manager credit rating methodology for Credit Committee approval

  • Support the sample asset check on asset that have been internally rated or rated using fund manager credit rating methodologies

  • Support the regular review of internal and fund manager internal credit rating methodologies

Experience

  • Credit rating agency experience or ratings team within an asset manager/insurance company is essential for the role

  • Proven experience developing and applying credit rating methodologies; or experience reviewing and challenging internal credit rating methodologies

  • Experience in supporting risk identification activities in the context Solvency UK requirements desirable

  • Experience in drafting reports for committees

Skills and Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of the different credit rating methodologies used by external rating agencies for assets typically held by UK annuity writers

  • Understanding of the Solvency UK requirements for internally assigned credit ratings (SS3/17) would be desirable

  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders across the business
