Purpose

To support the company's ambitious growth plans, we are recruiting for a DB Systems Senior Analyst to join our DB (Defined Benefit) System Development team.

The purpose of this role is to support the DB System Development team in supporting Just’s DB Pricing platform through building, developing and maintaining databases and models used for pricing calculations of defined benefit bulk annuities.

Your contributions will enhance the scalability of our Pricing platform, supporting the DB team to provide reliable, comprehensive and market leading solutions to our clients.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Be a key member of the DB System Development team which is responsible for developing and maintaining our Pricing platform to enable the DB Core Pricing team to efficiently and accurately price bulk annuities.

  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve and enhance the processes of the DB Core Pricing team, our people have a proactive approach to integrating technology into daily tasks and processes in order to drive innovation and efficiency.

  • Develop a deep technical knowledge of all systems, tools and coding languages used in DB Systems Development. Seek further development opportunities with new technologies and proactively share those with the team.

  • Work closely with the DB Core Pricing team to gather requirements and specifications for model development, testing, and validation. Ensure model developments are embedded effectively.

  • Collaborate with the DB Strategic Development team to ensure the interoperability of the Pricing and Data platforms.

  • Collaborate with the DB Pricing and Proposition Development teams to ensure new or enhanced propositions can be supported with our Pricing platform.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in Finance and Reporting, the DB Data and Transitions and DB Operations teams to ensure that model and data structure changes flow through effectively to the wider DB ecosystem.

  • Work with key internal stakeholders to ensure delivery timescales are communicated effectively.

  • Proactively work to promote a culture of collaboration and engagement across the DB Pricing & Reinsurance team.

  • Be curious, proactive and open to new ideas - applicants should demonstrate a track record of adapting to change, embracing technology, learning from experience, and showing resilience in the face of obstacles.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • Familiarity with programming languages for financial modelling, for example: Julia, Python, R or VBA.

  • Enthusiasm and a keenness to learn and collaborate with the team and wider business

  • Understanding of automated testing and continuous integration

  • Experience of working with databases, i.e. SQL, Access would be advantageous.

Desirable

  • 2.1 or above in a technical/mathematical degree is desirable

  • Coding experience in a workplace setting, for example Julia, Python, R or VBA

  • Sound knowledge of technical actuarial concepts or financial economics.

  • Good knowledge and awareness of UK Defined Benefit pension schemes, the DB buy in/buy out market, life insurance and relevant regulation.

  • Experience of working with cloud based or distributed computing
