About The Role

As a Defined Benefits Director of  Risk you will be responsible for all aspects of risk pertaining to the Defined Benefits business at Just. Your role will consist of being Accountable for Identification, Management, Monitoring and Mitigation (IMMM) of risks inherent in writing pension risk transfer business. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to build and maintain a Risk Framework for the Defined Benefits Business and Continuously develop the framework.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the development, implementation and embedding of the quantitative aspects of Defined Benefit’s risk appetite framework and the translation into quantitative tolerances, limits and thresholds.  
  • Work collaboratively with second line to ensure alignment to second line policies, frameworks and procedures.
  • The role holder should ensure that we are calculating all relevant risk metrics and stresses for Defined Benefits business, on a regular basis, and in a consistent and efficient manner.
  • Oversee the embedding and smooth running of risk management processes.
  • Support the business planning and strategy process in Defined Benefits by ensuring it includes appropriate, adequate and effective consideration of all risks.

About You

The experience, skills, and knowledge we are looking for:

  • Strong understanding of financial and insurance risk including up to date understanding and experience of leading edge risk quantification techniques. 
  • Ability to work with wider teams to build and implement application of these techniques. 
  • Good understanding of market, credit, insurance and liquidity risk types and their management.
  • Excellent ability to present complex financial concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Good understanding of the regulatory context and ability to engage with regulators on behalf of investments and the Defined Benefits business
  • Strong delivery focus and organisational / project management skills, to co-ordinate and deliver plans to agreed timescales.
  • Experience in running quantitative frameworks in financial, insurance and operational risk, and understanding and meeting the requirements of Executives, Risk Committees and Boards.
